The Road to a Digital Future: Belgian National Lottery Modernises Its IT Landscape With Support From adesso

The Belgian National Lottery is pushing ahead with an ambitious IT modernisation programme. The aim of the multi-year transformation project is to fundamentally renew the lottery’s technological foundation for its gaming platform and thus set the course for sustainable growth beyond 2030. To implement this project, the Belgian National Lottery is working with adesso, the leading IT service provider in Germany. The IT service provider prevailed against several renowned competitors in a demanding international tender process.

The Belgian National Lottery is gradually modernising its core systems in a multi-phased approach, including the lottery system, the network for all points of sale, and the lottery terminal systems. The National Lottery is responsible for the content, strategic objectives, and key decisions, while adesso provides support in programme management. Since July 2025, the IT service provider’s experts have been contributing their methodological, organisational, and industry-specific experience.

Pioneering for an Entire Industry

With its modernisation programme, the Belgian National Lottery is pursuing the goal of future-proofing its technological platform while meeting the strict requirements for stability, security, and regulatory compliance. In doing so, the lottery company defines the technical requirements, prioritises measures, and ensures the close integration of technology, organisation, and business strategy.

A highly qualified, international adesso team with many years of experience in the lottery industry is behind ensuring the success of the project. To do this, they are implementing quality and governance mechanisms via programme management and through the Belgian National Lottery’s Project Management Office (PMO).

Another advantage of the collaboration is adesso’s local presence in Belgium. In the future, its recently opened Belgian subsidiary will allow the IT service provider to meet growing or changing project and capacity requirements. The close proximity of the National Lottery’s headquarters in Brussels to adesso’s Belgian subsidiary also allows the project partners to coordinate and communicate more effectively.
